Tranby House, Perth

One of the oldest surveying buildings of the Swan River Colony settlement, Tranby (Peninsula Farm) is an historic cottage.  Built like an English cottage farmhouse, it has spacious verandas and loft bedrooms, and was built by settler Joseph Hardey and his family in 1839.  The house is named after the ship Tranby which landed in Western Australia in February 1830. Classified by the National Trust in 1973, the Tranby House is an important tourist attraction in Perth. Run today by a group of knowledgeable and enthusiastic women, there are tours available and many historic items and memorabilia on display to view. There is also a tearoom where the Warden's Cottage used to be where you can sit and relax and enjoy your afternoon tea.
