This unique icon is a steel through arch bridge that crosses Sydney Harbour. It can be crossed on foot, by bicycle, by car or train and it connects the North Shore with Sydney's Central Business District. Because of it's arch-based design, it is locally nicknamed "The Coat Hanger". It was opened in 1932 and is the fifth-lonest spanning-arch bridge in the world. Amazing for picture taking, It is a focal point for national pride and tourism in Sydney. Visit the South Eastern Pylon and get a close look at Harbour Bridge, it is a fairly long walk only recommended for the fit, and includes 200 steps to the top, at the top the views of the city and picture taking opportunities are fantastic. People have compared Sydney Harbour Bridge to the Statue of Liberty in New York in Australian History, because once you have seen the bridge you knew you had made it.
