South Bank Parklands in Brisbane

Located at the southern bank of the Brisbane River, these parklands are made up of a unique mixture of grassed areas, rainforest, plazas, the Wheel of Brisbane, the Nepal Peace Pagoda and the riverfront promenade.  This park can be reached by foot, bicycle and is easily accessible from public transit.  One of the most unique features of this parkland is Streets Beach, which is a man-made beach formed from 2000 sq. meters of concrete surrounded by 4000 cubic meters of sand.  It is topped up with sand every year to keep it in perfect condition, and it the recipient of numerous awards, including the Keep Australia Beautiful Council's Clean Beach Challenge.  This unique area can be accessed by foot on the Goodwill Bridge, which is the vital pedestrian link between Brisbane and South Bank, and is open only to bicycles and foot traffic. This enjoyable local and tourist spot is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
