Located in Federation Square, this is a shrine to all screen-based art in Australia, including television, computer animation, film, video and interactive installations. This institution is unique and celebrates, promotes and explores the moving image in it's many forms. The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) hosts a vibrant calendar of international exhibitions, festivals, live events, films, educational programs and creative workshops in order to provide their diverse audience with multiple ways to engage with the moving image. ACMI is an important part of Melbourne's role as one of the most creative cities in the world. The centre was founded in 1946 and was the first of it's kind in Australia.
