The grounds were built in 1853 and has built a marvellous history since then, being the host of many international cricket events like the Cricket World Cup, VFL/AFL Grand Finals, the 1992 World Cup and the 1956 Summer Olympic Games. Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is spoken reverently thought Australia, and particularly throughout Melbourne because of it's wonderful history as a super stage for Australian sport. Tourists can choose to take a themed tour, which runs every Wednesday, such as MCG, Sport and War, or visit the National Sports Museum, which is housed on the MCG.  The National Sports Museum is home to the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, the Melbourne Cricket Club Museum, the Olympic Museum and the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.

Known to locals as the "G", this is Australia's favourite stadium and the birthplace of Test cricket and the home of Australian football.
