Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane

This is the largest and oldest koala sanctuary and was founded in 1927. This sanctuary supports more wildlife than just koalas, but also kangaroos, tasmanian devils, echidnas, wombats and a platypus. For a fee, visitors may hold a koala briefly, although there are strict regulations about the well-being of the animals, and is one of a select few sanctuaries that allow this to happen. They hold shows twice a day for visitors, and also feature many colourful birds, including cockatoos and parrots. Some of the shows and activites featured include loriket and kangaroo feedings, sheep dog shows and snake holding. They have over 130 koalas who currently call the sanctuary home, and are the perfect place to encounter a large variety of the amazing wildlife that live in Australia.
