Coopers Brewery

Coopers Brewery began in 1862 by accident, as Thomas Cooper made beer when he was trying to create a tonic for his wife Ann who was sick.  South Australia was 26 years old at the time and most of the settlers preferred to drink import ale as colonial ale had a peculiar taste, so Cooper decided to create a beer made from all-natural, premium ingredients.   Soon his stouts and fine ales were in high demand and Coopers became a brewer of distinction.

In the present day, Cooper's is the last remaining family owned brewery, and it is still a common occurrence to run into a Cooper when visiting the Brewery.  Coopers beers are wildly popular in South Australia and are available on tap in South Australia and Victoria, and throughout Australia as a specialty beer. Some of Coopers distinctive beers include: Clear, 62 Pilsner, Premium Lager, Mild Ale, Dr. Tim's Traditional Ale, Pale Ale, Sparkling Ale, Dark Ale, Best Extra Stout and Extra Strong Vintage Ale.

Take a tour of the building and learn about all of the steps in the production process and visit the museum to get insight into the history of Coopers.  With proceeds benefitting the various charities in the Coopers Brewery Foundation, and tastings of these delicious beers, this tour is a tasty and fun way to explore Adelaide's history and culture.
