Adelaide Central Market

The Adelaide Central Market is a large multicultural market and a major tourist attraction right in the centre of Adelaide, and is often called the Central Market. It's vibrant atmosphere and wide selection of goods available have helped to make it one of Adelaide's best-known landmarks. It was first established in 1869 as the City Markets, first operating with 50 to 100 produce carts, and shops were them built around the market. Today the market is surrounded by Adelaide China Town, Market Plaza and the Central Market Arcade. Parking is located about the market, with approximately 1000 spaces available in the car park. Tours are available of the Central Market, are are an excellent way to sample the delicious food, meet the various traders and learn about the secrets and history behind the Market. With over 80 stalls, the Market is now the most visited attraction in South Australia, and is known as the "Heart of Adelaide".
